If we want to help scientists get more insights and more value out of the poster sessions they attend every year, we have to first develop better measures. Because handing out surveys is lame and nobody likes it and the data kind of sucks. Instead, we want scalable, objective measures of the information foraging behaviors that happen in poster sessions. Here, we tested a bunch of off-the-shelf people counters to collect data on how many people visit different rows of posters.
