This is the sound of the cursed mermaid statues in Sea of Thieves. This is what it sounds like when going from very distant to very close to very distant again.
There are two distinct sound effects depending on your distance: When far you hear a kind of metallic horn sound and when you're close it's more of a bassy sound with a high pitch string sound and there is a middle ground where the two kind of cross-fade into each other.
