It is really amazing to take a KSRTC bus ride through the spectacular & scenic, fog covered, rain drenched & dangerously narrow roads of the Charmadi Ghats in near zero visibility. Hats off to these highly experienced drivers who have to tolerate the recklessness of other road users & take you safely to your destination.
The National Highway 234 climbs the Western ghats from Charmadi. This ghat section has 12 Hairpin curves and receives very heavy rainfall of over 7000 mm during the monsoon.
