Half-Life Ultimate Chronology Part 1 Episode 1: Induction

This series aims to explore LambdaHistoriker's "Half-Life: Ultimate Chronology" project, which aims to collect all noteworthy, lore relevant Half-Life mods and bring them together into a seamless, coherent experience with a carefully considered order, with explanations on their placement and on how they connect to each other. Additionally, the project features a curated UD pack, which I will be using throughout these videos for the intended Half-Life: Ultimate Chronology experience, which not only changes the models to higher quality versions, but also consists of custom-made patches for the featured mods that fix bugs, improve their custom content, or in some cases, modify the mod itself to better connect it with the previous or next entry. This video is the first entry in the Part 1 of the Half-Life: Ultimate Chronology project, called "Half-Life as Gordon". Part 1 explores all entries in the Half-Life 1 timeline that are from the perspective of Gordon Freeman. When they're all merged together, they extend Freeman's journey into a six day long restless journey for survival. Additionally, a prequel and several sequels are added that follow Freeman's escape from Black Mesa and the subsequent containment of the disaster.

One important thing to note is that many of the mods featured in this part were created before the release of Half-Life 2, meaning their authors had no idea about any future developments and retcons introduced in the Half-Life series post-Half-Life 1. Due to this, contradictions with the Half-Life 2 timeline are to expected in Part 1, and this continuity should be seen as an alternate take on the Half-Life story where the events of Half-Life 2 never happened.

HLUC Description (CONTAINS SPOILERS): "Induction – Begins with Gordon Freeman arriving at Black Mesa by jeep alongside Barney Calhoun–whom he has just met–and getting off at one of the parking lots. Set no more than a year before the events of Half-Life, the mod plays out in short episodes covering some of
Gordon’s moments in Black Mesa, including: registering for work, settling into the Level 3 Dormitories, retrieving Kleiner’s lost office key via some vent-crawling, and assisting in an experiment as an HEV-certified test assistant. The player briefly attends the Hazard Course (this part is intended to be interrupted by playing the official Half-Life Hazard Course before continuing), and meets several key characters from the main series, including Dr. Kleiner, Eli Vance, Arne Magnusson, and Dr. Rosenberg. The
mod ends with Gordon boarding a tram at the dorm station, directly setting up the events of Half-Life. Notably, this prequel mod also aligns well with Valve’s official lore where Gordon accepts the G-Man’s offer."
