During the last edition of the Historic Minardi Day, I was lucky enough to record one of the most unknown but yet fascinating F1 car ever, the Monteverdi Onyx Ore-2. It was meant to take part to the 1991 season after taking over from the former Onyx Race Engineering, but failed to do so after Karl Foitek, father of one of the two designed drivers Gregor, refused to give an important financial help to Onyx after the 1990 Hungarian GP, ending the team's history in F1. Monteverdi did actually build a new car for 1991, which JJ Lehto tested briefly, but the project was lately abandoned, with the team never putting a wheel back on track, until the latest edition of the Historic Minardi Day, where the Ore-2 could finally roar again with its Ford 3500 V8 engine.
