The Fascinating Story of Škoda Auto

Škoda Auto is one of the largest car manufacturers in Europe today, yet it all started very modestly.

The story of the automaker began in 1895 when Václav Laurin and Václav Klement decided to establish the bicycle production company Slavia, but that was just the beginning. These two visionaries from Mladá Boleslav had bold dreams and an unwavering drive to innovate, which led them to produce motorcycles and later automobiles. Laurin & Klement became pioneers of the Czech automotive industry, laying the foundations for a brand that would become globally recognized as Škoda Auto.

From the early Laurin & Klement brand to the controversial merger with the German Volkswagen Group.
