For learners and new drivers choose the appropriate speed on national speed limit rural roads (country roads) can be a concern. Often with questions like:
What is the minimum speed I can do on a 60mph road?
Is 40mph ok to do on a 60mph road?
Do I have to do 60mph on a 60mph road?
Can I fail my driving test for driving too slow?
These questions do not have a set answer, it depends, depends on things such as the road conditions which include the width of the road, visibility, sharpness of bends also the amount and risk level of other hazards such as junctions, pedestrian activity & cyclists and horses.
In this video I first show you the basis of using an advanced driving technique, using the limit point, this technique is used by advanced drivers, racing drivers and emergency response drivers and it is an effective way of judging the appropriate speed for bends, to ensure you are not going too fast, but also not going too slow.
Using the limit point is only for judging the sharpness of bends, it does not take into account other factors, so secondly I drive down multiple national speed limit country roads showing examples of when it is safe to make progress and following the limit point, and when it is not safe, and in fact it may be appropriate to do 40mph, 30mph or even 20mph on a 60mph country road.
If you are driving at the appropriate speed, which could be 20mph on a 60mph road, or 60mph on a 60mph road, you will pass your test. If you are driving at a speed which is drastically different to the appropriate speed then you are likely to FAIL your UK driving test.
I create videos with tips and tricks to help you along side your driving lessons when learning to drive and ultimately to pass your UK driving test!
Even if you have passed your driving test you never stop learning, see what you can learn from my videos.
