Shakespeare's incredible play, "The Tragedy of Othello" wasn't written to explore gender constructs in the way we conceive of them today, because that way of thinking did not yet exist. But the play there is still a great deal of meaning that can be made from studying the play in terms of the impact that gendered expectations have on the attitudes and actions of characters.
In this lecture, the concept of gender discourse is explored and applied to the play.
