New Elephant Road, which is one of the top business hubs in Dhaka city, mostly renowned for its shops selling shoes, dresses, carpets, computers & accessories, ceramics, watches and many other items. Previously it’s name was Laboratory Road and the road connected Shahabagh and Science Laboratory.

Multiplan Center, which is located here, most probably the second-biggest computer market of Dhaka. There are varieties of other computer shops and repairing centers here. Besides the computer market, Elephant Road is also popular for modern dresses for men and women. All shorts of clothes and dresses are available here.

There is a Bata Signal circle in the center of Elephant road which is named after the shoe manufacturers and retailers “BATA”.

It was January 27, 2021, I was in the Elephant road area in Dhaka city, thought that it would be a great idea if I explore the area by walking. I started walking and I had my GoPro camera with me, I turned on the camera and started walking in the street. I walked upto Motaleb plaza in Hatirpul Dhaka.

What I experienced from my tour is that the area is a very commercial area and various types of products market is available in the area. I saw people came to shop here things like shoes, belts, pant-shirt, ladies dresses, carpets etc. Computer and Gadgets shops are very popular here. Shopping centers like Multiplan center is very famous as a computer and electronics accessories market.

Here roads are quite neat and clean compared to Mirpur and Old Dhaka. What I realized is, this is mainly a market area.
