This was the Codger's surprise birthday treat - and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Departing Kyle of Lochalsh, the Seaprobe Atlantis is a “semi-submersible glass bottom boat” - a boat with windows ingeniously incorporated in its hull, meaning that marine life from kelp to jelly fish, seahorses to crabs can be seen from down in the hull.
Timed to match low tide to ensure a seabed view, the 2-hour trip also sailed under Skye bridge, visited a World War II shipwreck, HMS Port Napier, and a fish farm. We did indeed see sea horses, crabs and jelly fish - just not captured on film - but there are 2 sea urchins to spot......
Despite a rainy, dreich day (providing exceedingly difficult filming conditions) and none of the promised seals, it was good fun with a great crew.
