Melbourne Colonial Dancers held a Ball on 30th August 2025
The venue was the Prahran RSL in Melbourne, Australia.
The musicians were “The Melbourne Colonial Dancers Band”
The theme of ‘Pride & Prejudice” was chosen as 2025 is 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen in 1775. (1775-1817)
The Regency Period was from (1811 - 1820).
Melbourne Waltz from 1820 was on the program for the evening.
The Dance Instructions are:
MELBOURNE WALTZ 32 Bar Waltz
Longway
3 Cpl in 4 Cpl set
4 Bars 1st & 2nd Ladies set to partners
Change places ladies between men
4 Bars Repeat
8 Bars 1st Cpl chasse down set & back, cast to 2nd place
(2’s move up) & dance to face 1st corners
8 Bars 1st Cpl turn 1st corners by right hand, Pass right shoulder
Turn 2nd corner right hand and pass partner by the right
To dance to 2nd place own side
8 Bars All dance Right Allemande (Regency)
All dance Left Allemande
Except 2nd time thru 1st cast to bottom of set
instead of Left Allemande

This dance is really a triple minor dance.
Danced here as a 3 in a 4 couple
