Two steam locomotive hauled trains racing along the 4 track mainline railway between Newcastle and Maitland in New South Wales. An annual event and major attraction of the Hunter Valley Steamfest.
Steam locomotives 3526 "The Nanny" and Garratt 6029 were the two participants in the 2024 ARTC Great Steam Train Race.
The race was from near the Newcastle suburb of Waratah and Maitland.
