Well here it is. My longest direct flight to date. Also the longest low cost route by any budget/low cost airline in the world. Gatwick to Singapore approximately 6,800 miles. 12 & a half hours and it cost just £149.
All in all a fantastic flight. I've said it before, but great amounts of room on Norwegian's 787. Incredible entertainment system and great crew. For the price of the ticket, no complaints at all. On Norwegian you can choose to pre-order a meal online or anytime during the flight you can order food & drink to your seat using the seatback TV, which is a brilliant idea.
An 11am departure from Gatwick on Sunday 19th November. What was technically a "day flight" to your body clock, actually saw the sunset and rise again before landing at 7:20am the following morning of Monday 20th. Pushed back at Gatwick actually a few minutes ahead of schedule and were airborne at 11:05! For an 11:00 departure, that's very good going, especially at LGW. Gorgeous views during the climb out of RWY26L, performing a full U-turn offering some great views of Gatwick itself before crossing the channel and into Europe. Managed to get quite a few air to air shots of other aircraft, which I've included. For an 11am departure, its incredible that just 3 hours into the flight we'd met the night sky and the sun began to set over the Black sea. During the night we passed over Turkmenistan, into Pakistan, Northern India then over the Bay Of Bengal down towards Thailand where the sun began to rise and we prepared for our arrival into Singapore. Seat 7J I must say was perfect. Brilliant engine view and rows 6 to 9 on Norwegians 787 are in a separate cabin. So its fairly quiet, with not too many people around. Flight was fairly busy, I was lucky enough to have an empty seat next to me, but there wasn't many empty ones around. Also apologies for the misting on the windows during the arrival in Singapore, the humidity caused condensation to cover the windows, not much I could do.
