"Wild Witch" (2018) Re-Score - Clara Escapes from Chimera

Hey again, folks!

Another day, another re-score.

This time we’ve got the 2018 Danish film “Wild Witch,” or “Vildheks,” which is an adaptation of the books series of the same name by Lene Kaaberbøl. It’s a fun little fantasy film, and even though it’s very clear it had a limited budget, the filmmakers were able to really make the most of the Danish mountains and forests to create a visually sumptuous film. The same, however, can’t be said for the English dub of the film, which is, err - lacking, to put it generously.

Still, though, I saw this as a great opportunity to really flex my fantasy writing muscles again. This time, I really wanted to try and add more atmospheric and synth elements to this re-score, as well as aleatoric orchestral sounds to give it a more modern horror vibe, and I’m quite pleased with the results. Definitely very James Newton Howard, which is the vibe I was going for.
