In the glovebox: a cassette labeled “For whoever finds this.” What it says pulls a disgraced filmmaker and a small-town deputy into the dark seam between an abandoned mill and a black-water quarry—where records were edited, names were notarized, and the ground remembers more than anyone will admit.
