Looks like he wanted to pull a "The Who" and try to show up the concert headliner by pulling out all the stops. This first clip is the start of his set and he just gets more outrageous (breaks strings on 2 guitars) as the set goes on. Check out the next clip that comes out on Wednesday. Hold on to your seats!
Lucky Peterson widely celebrated as a blues and soul child prodigy, earning national attention before he was even six years old. Growing up in Buffalo, New York, he was immersed in music at his father’s nightclub, The Governor’s Inn, where legends such as Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters frequently performed. At age five, Peterson astonished audiences with his mastery of the Hammond B-3 organ, leading to an appearance on The Tonight Show and a hit single, “1-2-3-4,” produced by Dixon himself. His early exposure to world-class musicians shaped a career defined by versatility, technical brilliance, and deep musical feeling.
Throughout his life, Peterson released a rich catalogue of albums spanning blues, soul, R&B, and gospel. Notable works include Lucky Strikes! (1989), Triple Play (1990), I’m Ready (1992), Move (1997), Black Midnight Sun (2003), and You Can Always Turn Around (2010), which earned critical acclaim for its blend of electric blues and rootsy acoustic textures. He was known for his expressive guitar playing as much as his soulful organ and vocal performances.
Peterson also collaborated with an impressive list of artists, performing or recording with Etta James, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Mavis Staples, Little Milton, Otis Rush, and Albert Collins, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dynamic and gifted musicians of his generation.
