In this special program, Beyond Earth President Steve Wolfe invites some of his space evangelist friends to join in a dialog on answering the perennial question of why we go to space. At a moment when the space policy discourse is dominated by concerns for economic growth and geopolitical competition, Beyond Earth thought it would be a good time to take a step back and reflect on what all this space activity means for the future of the human family. The guests on this Beyond Earth special webinar are some of the most influential voices in spreading the word about the coming age of space settlement. Frank White, author of The Overview Effect, and Rick Tumlinson, author of the just-released Why Space?: The Purpose of People, have inspired multiple generations over the past 40 years to embrace the space vision. Courtney Stadd has spent an equal amount of time as the consummate behind-the-scenes evangelist, nudging the political apparatus toward a more vibrant space future. Loretta Hidalgo Whitesides, founder of Yuri’s Night and author of The New Right Stuff, has been energizing people for over 20 years. And Samantha (VNCCII) Tauber is a young performing and graphic artist whose message about space settlement is reaching a whole new generation.
