Written in July 1917 by H.P. Lovecraft, "Dagon" is the final note of a tortured, morphine-addicted officer in World War 1, who describes the horrific incidents after escaping his cargo ship that led his distress.
What I adore about 'Dagon' is how vivid yet interpretational this story can be, especially when paired with Lovecraft's other work 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' (1936). This was the first book that introduced the 'Cthulhu Mythos' and I think it's a fantastic starting point for anyone who wants to explore it for themselves.
