Sumitra Magrati is Global Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal, a sociologist, and a youth activist. Recently, she is working at REED Nepal on Quick Impact Project. She has been leading alone at Himalayan and Rural Area, Okhaldhunga District, Hilly, and Himalayan part of Nepal. She worked one year at Himalayan Times, Nepal's leading English daily newspaper. The Project: My Radio school: My future: It is said that something is far better than nothing. Quick Impact Project which is funded by JICA and IC Net Limited and organized by REED Nepal, is presenting to make a quick impact on the education system in rural areas of Nepal. As REED Nepal has been working in the education field for 15 years in remote parts to ensure every child growing in poverty gets quality education to bring positive changes in their lives. My Radio education: My Future, is created by the upheaval in the education of Nepal which has been highly impacted by covid 19. Especially in remote areas as compared to urban areas. This project highly focused on girls' empowerment and education. Students are learning through radio education which is accessible to most probably everyone in remote areas. It is prepared by focusing on 144 lessons at the first phase which broadcast from nearby FM daily 30 minutes. Among 144 lessons 72 lessons are about academic skills which include Science and math from class 6-10 in a creative way and 72 lessons are about technology and life skill which will encourage students to be better and wise by getting practical knowledge about health, education, Sanitation, economic empowerment, career counseling, leadership and all the basic and advanced skills that we need in our lives. We are motivated to work in rural areas with the purpose of girls' empowerment, continuation in the study during covid 19, and Girls learn academic and life skills through radio education. I was a field officer for Okhaldhunga find work both exciting and challenging.
