Leonid Reshko, M.D., Radiation Oncologist, shares information on radiation treatment options for prostate cancer: Intensity-modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). Both IMRT and SBRT use photon radiation that deliver highly precise treatment, customized individually and conforming treatment to tumors of all shapes.
Unlike Proton Radiation Therapy, a benefit of IMRT and SBRT is that it does not require patients to have the placement of a rectal balloon or SpaceOAR gel, because of the high level of precision from these leading-edge therapies.
