ST. LOUIS - House of Vision, a retail space in Old North St. Louis operated by Dream Builders 4 Equity, is empowering youth through entrepreneurship by providing them with business training and employment opportunities.
They sell apparel, art, books, and other products created by local youth and community members. The store also functions as a print and embroidery shop, serving external small businesses and nonprofits with bulk orders.
Located at 2707 N 14th St., House of Vision is conveniently positioned near Dream Builders 4 Equity's central hub in Hyde Park. The store plays a significant role in enriching the Old North neighborhood by providing a safe training ground for youth and community members.
Jamerah McNichols, a store associate and social media manager, along with Kevin Griffin, the store manager, came into the studio to talk about some of their operations at House of Vision. They work collaboratively with Dream Builders 4 Equity youth, who take on roles as staff employees, acquiring valuable skills while earning wages.
To sustain its activities, House of Vision takes a small percentage from local vendor’s sales to cover their operational costs. This system helps support themselves but also contributes to the local economy by creating youth entrepreneurs.
