Written in 1938 by J. Fred Coots (lyrics by Haven Gillespie), You Go To My Head quickly found its way to the Jazz repertoire with recordings by Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Dave Brubeck and more.
The tune opens in a Major key center and quickly moves to borrowed chords creating a dreamy and lush harmonic journey.
As always I am playing Vic Firth Drumsticks, my beautiful Zildjian Cymbals and my Gretsch hammered brass snare drum. I typically prefer that Great Gretsch Sound, but in this case I'm using Canopus drums provided by the club. Not bad club, not bad. Not Gretsch, but not bad ;)
Cymbal set up
22" Kerope (1st issue)
22" K Custum Dry Complex (The Bill Stewart Ride, 1st run)
20 " K Constantinople (punched with one rivet)
14" Avedis re-issue hats
