The VAMOS project starts with Fiberight's new Hydracycle process, that recovers previously un-recyclable materials. The waste paper and pulp collected are hydrolysed into sugars, a fully sustainable building block for industrial biotechnology. These sugars are used by the University of Aberystwyth to produce lactic acid. This is polymerised into the bioplastic PLA, which is being used by Imperial College London to create new, sustainable materials.
