In this video, I spend the day volunteering with Roots West Sussex CIC, working alongside the local community to help care for and protect this important natural space.
Their sessions offer insights into how woodland management supports local wildlife, biodiversity, and people. This is a quiet look at what conservation volunteering really involves and the impact it can have on mental health. This Hazel woodland should be home to a wide range of animals and plant life. Formerly shaped by megafauna we’re using traditional woodland management to inject life back into lovely space.
Volunteering here is about more than the work itself — it’s about understanding the connection between people, land, and nature, and the small but meaningful efforts that help keep places like this healthy for the future.
If you’d like to see more videos, covering a wider range of wild spaces and other forms of conservation. Please consider liking, commenting and subscribing!
