A very steep forward slip to land I did in a Piper J5A Cub at 1W1. I got the plane very slow on base to make the slip more effective. By my math (and I'm not great at math), I came in at about a 16.5° descent angle. The blast of throttle I did above the runway was in response to a sudden sink.
The wind was from the right. The slip would have been more effective if I had slipped with the right wing down instead of the left.
It would be a bad idea to do a very steep, very slow slip in an airplane without being extremely comfortable with that plane's slip, slow flight, and stall characteristics. Please practice this with a flight instructor at a safe altitude before ever trying it on landing. Most planes are not as forgiving as a cub.
