The brilliant Russell Brookes and what was at the time, one of the most iconic liveries in rallying. Of course, we remember the Opel Manta, with brief drives in a Chevette and a Lancia, but Russell will always conjure fond memories of driving the 'Flying Manta' and the Ford Escort.
He scored three podiums in a row in 1977, 78 and 79. The first two years with third placed this Ford Escort RS 1800 MKII from 1979, finishing runner-up to Hannu Mikkola, also driving a works Escort, in what was, to say the least, a very attritional Rally!!
