Iran,Kurdistan, Marivan City
It is a city located in Kurdistan province and western Iran. This city is the center of Marivan city, one of the border cities with Iraq, which is located 120 km west of Sanandaj city, the center of Kurdistan province.
In the city of Marivan, Kurdish and Farsi are the spoken and written languages, respectively.
The modern city of Marivan has a historical background of more or less a century. This border town was located in the neighborhood of the Ottoman government, and by the order of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, in 1281 AD, a very strong military fortress was rebuilt 2 thousand feet from Zaribar Lake. A year later, by order of Farhad Mirza Motamed al-Dawlah, the uncle of Naser al-Din Shah, it was added to its area, which is described in the inscription he placed on the wall of the Darul Ahsan Mosque. In the city, by the order of Haj Motamed al-Doulah, a kariz door, a bath and a water reservoir were built. After Haj Farhad Motamed al-Dawlah, Haj Muhammad Ali Khan Zafar al-Mulk expanded the castle and built several houses, a caravanserai and other buildings inside the Shah Abad settlement. Later, all these facilities were destroyed due to the rebellion and anarchy of Kurdish nomads in the region. At the beginning of Pahlavi rule, the ruler of that time built a fort in the village of Musk, which became the Shahpur fort, and today it is used as a barracks, and it is not far from the city. In 1336, with the foundation of the municipality, Shahpur fortress was officially renamed Marivan.
Marivan is like a ring surrounded by mountains and green plains, where Zaribar Lake - as the world's largest fresh water spring, which is being destroyed due to the overgrowth of reeds, still plays the role of its turquoise gem. The blue dome of Pir Shaliar in Oraman is also there and steals the eyes from far away. A trip to Marivan and Oramanat will immerse you in colors. Marivan is one of the favorite areas for tourists due to its natural and weather conditions, people's culture and geographical location. There are numerous main and side rivers in this area, which play an important role in the attractiveness and formation of the nature of the area. The tributary rivers of Marivan city eventually join each other to form the Sirvan river. The Marivan region has "mid-temperate" climate characteristics; But considering the mountains, heights and deep valleys that are spread in all parts of the region, as well as the presence of forests and suitable vegetation in the north and south, the presence of moisture sources "rivers and Zaribar lake" has caused us to witness the diversity of different climates in this region. As from "Sanandaj to Marivan, from Sarovabad onwards", the region has a humid and Mediterranean climate, and the northern and southern regions of Marivan have a mountainous climate. Marivan is one of the rainiest regions of Iran with an annual rainfall between 500-900 mm.
From Kurdish clothes to Kalash, which is a type of Kurdish shoe, the sole of which is made of compressed fabric, and other than that, hand-woven carpets, wooden baskets, and wooden tools are another arts of this region that are very popular.
