Angelica Ojinnaka is Australia's Youth Representative to the United Nations for 2022. Internationally, Angelica is known as Australia's Youth Delegate.
In her statement to the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (77th Session), Angelica shared the voices, opinions, experiences, and perspectives of young people in Australia as heard throughout the 2022 Listening Tour.
"Let young people build these tables not for you, but with you, because these are our tables too", Angelica finishes her statement. "Supporting our full participation and partnership in economic, social, and political life is a key to advancement of norms on gender, health and economic security, increasing all aspects of wellbeing, and creating safe and secure communities that meet the self-identified needs of young people", Angelica says.
Throughout 2022, Angelica held a nationwide Listening Tour around Australia which heard from young people about the issues that matter to them. We placed no restriction on what issues that matter, whether that be within their local community, or affecting the world.
