What was meant to be a full clip of Port Macquarie Service Centre to Crescent head, Ended up being cut short around 4km south of the Kempsey / Crescent Head turn off. As the Phone / Camera Mount had had enough for the day.
It was one of those trips that tried to test your patience at every turn, From People tailgating the Bus for several kilometres. To the Temperature gauge being all over the shop showing dead cold one minute, Red hot the next down to 60° Celsius back up to 80° back to dead cold then read hot before finally settling down on 60° and staying there which is generally where it sits. Even on a 400km drive Sydney to Port Macquarie on the highway, For the best part of the trip it sat on 60° Celsius the whole trip. So pulled over a couple of times just to be sure, As a few minutes to be sure definitely beats a $40,000 odd engine rebuild.
As earlier Volvo B10M engines commonly use a 60°C thermostat, which is designed to allow the engine to warm up quickly for better efficiency and reduced wear before opening fully, Ill have to double check but I think the genuine Volvo part number is 273950 for the 60° Celsius (140 Fahrenheit) thermostat and generally fits all B10 models (B10M B10B B10L etc) that have the THD100 series engine or in our case the THD101GC 9.6 litre inline 6 turbo diesel.
