Moin! This time, I’m crossing under the Elbe via the Alter Elbtunnel and heading straight into the industrial heart of the city: Steinwerder. It’s a part of Hamburg most people never set foot in — unless they work there, or happen to arrive on a cruise ship and leave again immediately.
Come along as I explore this overlooked patch of harbor history by bike:
🪨 the forgotten origins of Steinwerder
🛳️ the massive cruise terminal
🚂 cargo trains, cranes, and container yards
🚴🏼♀️ surprisingly solid bike lanes
⚓ a sketchy port entrance with great views
and, of course... a sudden downpour. 🌧️
