Back in September 2024, a young couple—21-year-old Daryn Urban and 20-year-old Chalyn Ehlers—sparked major outrage when they tried to literally sell their two-month-old baby for just $1,000 and some beer at the Hide-Away Campground in Rogers, Arkansas.
They were out at the campground going around to people, casually offering up their baby like it was a Craigslist deal, saying they’d hand him over for a grand and a few brews. Some folks thought it was a sick joke at first, but once they realized they were serious, they called the cops right away.
When officers showed up, they found the baby in rough shape—diaper soaked, a bad rash, clearly not being taken care of. It only got worse when police found a handwritten contract the couple had drafted for the “deal,” with a wild clause that read: “Once you sign this contract, you can’t change your mind.”
The Department of Human Services stepped in and took the baby into protective custody. Meanwhile, Daryn and Chalyn were hit with charges for child endangerment and trying to sell the baby. Daryn managed to post a $50,000 bond and got out, but Chalyn’s still locked up. The case is ongoing.
The part that really threw people off? The fact that beer was part of the bargain. That detail made the whole thing even more disturbing and just plain insane.
