VPC Peering is a networking connection between two Amazon VPCs that allows traffic to route privately between them using private IPs. It supports both intra-region and inter-region communication.
🔁 Non-Transitive Nature Explained
VPC peering is non-transitive, meaning:
If VPC-A is peered with VPC-B, and VPC-B is peered with VPC-C,
VPC-A cannot reach VPC-C unless a direct VPC peering is created between A and C.
🧠 Why It Matters:
• Security: Prevents unintended network exposure.
• Control: You define explicit trust paths.
• Scaling complexity: Many peering links are needed in a mesh setup.
✅ Best Practice:
For many-to-many VPC communication, consider using AWS Transit Gateway, which supports transitive routing natively.
