Bought a new bike! Purchased a 2022 Commencal Meta HT am, Essentials.
Super excited to get a new bike. I have been wanting a new bike for sometime now and felt that I have progressed enough with my riding skills on my current bike ('17 Diamondback Overdrive Comp) where I felt it was time to upgrade. I have ridden my old bike on some tricky and technical terrain over the last 5 years. From the casual trip to Lake Hodges to running it down Snow Summit last year, I have definitely put the bike to the test and it has held up great. I am going to hang onto it as a second bike for casual rides with the family or for non-technical rides.
After unboxing my new bike, I went to Lake Hodges on Friday with a friend of mine to try it out. It was a very hot day (90+ f) so we took our time and enjoyed a nice leisurely time out on the trail. What a difference it was riding this bike compared to my old XC bike. The increased travel and slack geometry felt amazing. Also, going from 27.5" to 29" wheels was noticeable when rolling over rocks.
