Ferozepur-Patty Railway Line Approved: ₹764 Crore Project to Boost Punjab’s Connectivity & Defence Links
The Central Government has approved a 25.7 km-long railway line from Ferozepur to Patty, costing ₹764 crore. This new route will connect the Majha and Malwa regions of Punjab, improving trade, tourism, and defence logistics.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu announced the project, highlighting its strategic and economic importance. The line will also benefit the Indian Army and enhance connectivity to ports in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
Bittu criticised the Punjab Government for delaying railway projects, urging Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take prompt action. The project includes land acquisition from 12 villages across Ferozepur and Tarn Taran districts.
This railway link, first demanded in 2008, will finally become a reality—strengthening Punjab’s infrastructure and linking Amritsar’s Golden Temple and other tourist destinations to national routes.
