Watercolor Tree Painting How To Use Watercolor Pencils and Metallic Watercolors

Welcome to this beginner friendly tutorial on creating a beautiful watercolor tree painting that is perfect for Christmas cards! In this video, I’ll show you how to bring a festive watercolor Christmas tree to life using Faber-Castell Artist Grade Watercolor Pencils. While I also have Artist Loft watercolor pencils, I prefer Faber-Castell for their softer, more vibrant colors. Today, we’ll be using a select palette of burnt ochre, walnut brown, light green, emerald green, and ultramarine to build this unique tree design.

Starting with a blue watercolor wash on Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper, I’ll guide you through each step to create a snowy background and layer colors effectively. I’ll show you how to use watercolor pencils to sketch, build up color, and add depth using a round watercolor brush. This video covers techniques on blending, layering, and even adding shimmering metallic highlights for a festive touch!
