Should a Luthier Work for Free? When & Why

After watching a ‪@PeterMcKinnon‬ video about working for free, I thought it was an interesting topic which coincided with a repair i'm in the middle of involving some free color touchups.
Let me know what you think on this subject!

There are many avenues for free work- I didn't even touch on charity work etc. This is just one facet of the question.
