TJ Faddis, former manager of the Historic Lynwood Theater of Bainbridge Island, WA, demonstrates threading the 50 year old 35mm projector and take-up platter. This system has now been replaced by a new digital projector that plays movies from a portable hard drive. The old 35mm workhorse is now (sadly) dismantled and stored in pieces in the basement of the nearly 80 year old cinema. Though it was working well, changes in the movie exhibition industry—mainly the shut down of the largest movie reel distribution service— have forced movie houses to move to digital projection.
