Our team visited a Papyrus store in Egypt. The demo showcases how the plant is converted to sheets on which illustrations and paintings can be done using pencils, crayons, watercolours or oil paints. #Egypt #Art
It is made from the stem of plant. The process involves removing the rind and then cutting the pith vertically into slender strips which are then soaked in water. They are then placed next to each other, overlapping the edges. The sheet that is created with these strips is hammered with a hammer to make them stick to each other and create a single sheet. This is then dried.
