What YOU can LEARN from this video?

1. A veteran can obtain service connection for secondary conditions without filing a claim (526EZ form) if the condition is a common complication of an already service-connected condition and is documented in the appropriate DBQ (Disability Benefits Questionnaire).

2. For back conditions, bilateral lower extremity radiculopathy can be service-connected as a secondary condition when documented in the back DBQ, without needing a separate nexus statement from a doctor.

3. Other examples of common complications that can be service-connected without explicit claims include: upper extremity radiculopathy from neck strain, hypertension from diabetes, and erectile dysfunction from prostate cancer.

4. When VA examiners document these common complications in the appropriate sections of condition-specific DBQs, rating specialists can automatically grant service connection and assign appropriate disability ratings (such as 10% for each affected extremity with radiculopathy).
