This was another musical experiment. The name describes the two sparks: Schoenberg and Schrodinger. I had an idea to compose a bunch of loops of differing lengths and layer them over each other. Later I learned that Thom Yorke took this idea to extremes - 18 days long or some such thing. I made a shorter version too but here you get all 10 minutes or so. So how did our two S friends in the title get involved? Well, for one thing, I wrote down all 12 (Western) notes and randomly picked them to get tone rows for each of the loops (thanks Schoenberg). I also tapped Damian Metcalf to play the drum part. I told him the tempo and time signature of his loop and how many measures to play, but I didn't let him hear any of the other parts (a la Schrodinger). I didn't place the loops entirely without looking because I did want there to be some enjoyable movement to the piece, but some of the effects I applied had some "blind" aspects to when they were going to come in and exactly how they would sound. Did it turn out just as I expected? No, but I didn't really know what I expected.
