Küçükkuyu is a belde (town) in Ayvacık district of Çanakkale Province. It is a coastal town at the north shore of the Edremit Gulf of Aegean Sea. The Greek island Lesbos is at the south west. The Ida mountains of the mythology is at the north. Küçükkuyu and surrounding is full of ruins of antiquity. According to legend, Zeus watched the battle of Troy from an altar near Küçükkuyu and Aphrodite discovered a source of healing water in Küçükkuyu.[2] The present settlement was founded by Yörüks (nomadic Turkmens) and later Turkish refugees from Balkan countries also settled in Küçükkuyu. The original economic activity of Küçükkuyu was olive agriculture and fishing. But now the town is a touristic town and services to tourists constitute another portion of town revenues.

Thousands of tourists come to Küçükkuyu every year and the livelihood is mostly provided by fishing and olive cultivation. Küçükkuyu is 10 km from Altınoluk. At the same time, it attracts the attention of tourists as it is 20 km away from Assos. There are many tourist attractions in the area. One of them is the Zeus Altar, located on a small hill above Küçükkuyu. According to legend, it is known as the place where God Zeus lived and ruled the Trojan War. It is a cave located in the extension of Ida Mountain (Kaz Dağı). Hundreds of visitors come to the Altar daily. In addition, Değirmenbaşı Waterfall is also important as a tourist attraction. It meets the water needs of the region. In terms of oxygen, it is the second most abundant oxygen center in the world. Many respiratory patients settle in Küçükkuyu and become natural treatment. Assos and Küçükkuyu located between olive oil has been proven by tests conducted by Altınoluk composed of experts from Turkey's highest quality olive oil. Olive is the most important source of livelihood of the town and the town is home to many olive oil factories.
