October Health Policy SIG: Bobby Milstein – Connecting Models and Movements
October 10 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

DESCRIPTION: Our well-being relies on a system that is not built for everyone to thrive. But even systems fraught with racism and other forms of injustice can be transformed through shared stewardship. Over the last decade, the Rippel Foundation’s ReThink Health Initiative has developed a suite of dynamic maps and models that have had significant influence across a wide range of organizations in philanthropy, healthcare, academia, business, government, as well as multisector partnerships and nationwide networks. The SD Society honored this body of work with the 2023 SD Applications Award. In this dialogue, ReThink Health’s director of system strategy (Bobby Milstein) will share stories and answer questions about how their team designs SD tools to connect models and movements. Some topics we could cover include…

Curating a family of flexible models that can be configured for local conditions
Paying attention to what’s in the model vs. what’s in the room
Assembling teams with complementary skills (strategists, dynamic modelers, subject matter experts, experience designers, evaluators, educators, etc.)
Others…
