Aftermovie Women's Voices Concert: Ysa Bermejo + Ayal Ensemble, 30 October 2025, Grounds Rotterdam

Culture Connection, Codarts Global Musics en Grounds presenteerden op donderdag 30 oktober 2025 het allereerste concert in de programmaserie Women’s Voices.
Zangeres Ysa Bermejo en het Ayal Ensemble brachten een muzikaal eerbetoon aan de veerkracht, creativiteit en solidariteit van vrouwen wereldwijd. Voor een uitverkochte zaal creëerden zij een hartverwarmende avond waarin het publiek werd meegevoerd in een indrukwekkend muzikaal verhaal over vrouwen en hun kracht.
De Spaanse singer-songwriter Ysa Bermejo gaf begeleid door gitarist Michalis Michailidis een exclusief voorproefje van haar nieuwste album Gabriela, met songs over migratie, empowerment, vrijheid en moederschap. Het Ayal Ensemble vulde de avond aan met betoverende composities en liederen in talen als Arabisch, Perzisch, Turks en Koerdisch. Met karakteristieke instrumenten zoals de tanbour, tar, daf en duduk brachten zij eigen bewerkingen van volksliederen van en voor vrouwen, omlijst door persoonlijke verhalen.
Women’s Voices is een programmaserie van Culture Connection in 2025/26, waarin grensverleggende vrouwelijke podiumkunstenaars centraal staan. Musici die met hun kunst, visie en idealen bijdragen aan een socialere en mooiere wereld.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Culture Connection, Codarts Global Musics, and Grounds presented the first concert in the Women's Voices program series.
Ysa Bermejo and the Ayal Ensemble paid musical tribute to the resilience, creativity, and solidarity of women worldwide. In front of a sold-out audience, they created a heartwarming evening in which the audience was carried away by an impressive musical story about women and their strength.
Spanish singer-songwriter Ysa Bermejo, accompanied by guitarist Michalis Michailidis, gave an exclusive preview of her latest album Gabriela, with songs about migration, empowerment, freedom, and motherhood. The Ayal Ensemble complemented the evening with enchanting compositions and songs in languages such as Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Kurdish. With characteristic instruments such as the tanbour, tar, daf, and duduk, they performed their own arrangements of folk songs by and for women, intespersed by personal stories.
Women's Voices is a program series in 2025/26 focusing on female performing artist who choose their own path with courage and perseverance. Young musicians who with their art, vision, and ideals contribute to a better world for every-one.
