Along with the final pieces of the collapsing Berlin Wall and the reuniting Eastern and Western parts of Europe, techno quickly became the sound of the newly awakened continent. This unique genre came into existence as the archetype of struggle against the established social norms and cultural uniformity of the Soviet regime. The musical selection that distinguishes this episode epitomizes the national resistance of 11-13 January 1991, against the Soviet military forces, which took place in this very same building.
The 13th episode of Antidote features techno in a location that has become one of Lithuania’s most significant monuments to both self-determination and unity – the Vilnius Press House. Evidently, the brutalist architecture surrounding the artist is both a matching reflection of East Berlin in the 1980s and a symbol of growing cultural flourishing that enabled a systemic disruption.

P.S. Filming on a rooftop of a building where major national radio stations reside can get interesting because the sound equipment starts to pick up radio stations.
