In 1969, Chapman, along with Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam, co-created the groundbreaking television show "Monty Python's Flying Circus." In addition to his work with Monty Python, Chapman wrote several books, including his autobiography "A Liar's Autobiography," published in 1980.

Chapman was also openly gay, a fact he revealed publicly in the 1970s, making him one of the first celebrities to come out. He became an advocate for LGBT rights, using his platform to challenge societal norms and promote acceptance.
