First Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 - Painting the shell and panels - Part 4

It's episode 4 and we're painting the Escort RS2000! After all those hundreds of hours of metalwork, fettling and prep the shell and panels are ready to paint. The colour on this Escort is a lovely orange red called Carnival Red. It was the colour the car left the factory with and it's always nice to see a car of this standard stay its factory colour.

It's not often you get to work on such a special Ford! This is the first Mk2 RS2000 off the production line. The shell was in pretty good condition for its age but a few scabby parts and the paint was letting it down. It came to us for a few bits of metalwork repair and a full repaint before getting unveiled at the 2021 NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham. Watch as we restore this classic Ford back to its former glory!
