Storm Shadows target the KA-52 Helicopter Threat!

Currently the Ukrainian counteroffensive is being hindered by the work of the Russian KA-52 helicopters.
Also known as the Alligator, these helicopters were designed to be highly manoeuvrable, all weather ground attack force multipliers. With a length of 16 metres, a height of 4.9 and a main rotor diameter of 14.5. The maximum take-off weight of the KA-52 is 10 point 8 tons. The twin-seat cockpit accommodates two crew members in a side-by-side configuration. Both the crew members are seated on identical K 37 800M ejection seats fitted with a catapult crew rescue system. The modern glass cockpit is equipped with a head-up-display, four SMD 66 multifunction displays, helmet-mounted sight display, image intensifiers and a GPS receiver.
These helicopters have high combat survivability and powerful weaponry. The starboard side of the fuselage is fitted with a NPPU-80 movable gun mount installed with a 2A42 30mm automatic gun. The six wing-mounted external hardpoints can be attached with different combinations of weapons including the standoff, 9K121 Vikhr missile, which has been used to some success, against the Ukrainian armour. Whats more, given the importance of armoured units during an advance, the area is understandably been a target rich environment. The missile is designed to engage armoured targets fitted with E R A with a two stage Heat round which means they are powerful and very capable of penetrating most tanks currently rattling around the battlefield. It uses laser control for precise guidance with data transmission during the missile launch. It also has a low jamming susceptibility because its receiver faces the carrier, thereby protecting it from most jamming signals. The biggest issue facing the Ukrainians is undoubtedly the range, with the missile being effective at 9 kilometres and standard manpads systems only reaching 6.5 kilometres, if the operator is even able to eyeball the KA-52 in time.
