The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) has urged better response to update the country's disaster management framework and improve support for municipalities.
It says delays in reviewing the system despite a 2022 Cabinet directive have left local governments struggling to respond to increasing floods, storms, droughts and fires with outdated tools.
