Parliamentary Breakfast 2024

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2024 Teal Ribbon Parliamentary Breakfast.

We were honoured to have Christine Crupi as our keynote speaker who spoke powerfully about her lived experience, navigating cancer, her career and motherhood. Christine also shed a light on the importance of her Teal Support Program (TSP) nurse Rosetta, expressing how much she values Rosetta's support. This theme resonated throughout the rest of the speeches, highlighting the expertise and supportive care of our amazing TSP nurses.

We’d especially like to thank our incredible female panel of speakers, acknowledging the inequalities in the healthcare system and the need for change.

Chair of our Board, Meghan Speers, conveyed thanks and reflected on choosing hope when sharing her own ovarian cancer story on stage back in 2020, to today being here as the MC.

Our CEO, Associate Professor Anna Boltong, highlighted the importance of collaboration in the sector and the need for ongoing support to make a difference to the many women like Christine and her family.

Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Ged Kearney MP, spoke highly and sincerely of OCA and the government's recent announcements.

Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, Senator the Hon Anne Ruston also expressed bipartisan support as an OCA Parliamentary Ambassador. This is an issue that transcends party lines and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of all politicians in attendance.

Our Parliamentary Breakfast is just one facet of our advocacy arm at Ovarian Cancer Australia. The event provides an important annual touchpoint with our nation’s leaders. It is an opportunity for us to share the raw reality of what it’s like living with an ovarian cancer diagnosis, educate on what can be done to help, and encourage our leaders to push for ovarian cancer to be at the front of the national agenda.
