Fire engines responding to severe fire in London high rise tower block

Multiple fire engines, rescue trucks and other emergency vehicles responding with siren and lights to a significant fire in a high rise tower block in Whitechapel, London, UK.

At 15:53 on Monday, 8th March 2022, the London Fire Brigade were called to a fire in a three-roomed flat on the 17th floor of a high rise at Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street. The fire destroyed the flat and also affected a flat on the 18th floor and a balcony on the 19th floor.

A woman was trapped and given fire survival advice by control officers. Firefighters were able to rescue her using a fire escape hood.
The London Ambulance Service stated that they treated 4 patients and transported 2 to the hospital. 70 persons in total were evacuated.

A 64 metre Turntable Ladder, one of the tallest aerial appliances in the world at 209 feet reach, was also mobilised. You can see it going to work at 5:00 in the video.

The fire was under control by 19:07 and the cause is under investigation.
